20 Tottenham players spotted in Champions League training amid injury crisis

The Tottenham players have been spotted on the training pitches at Hotspur Way this afternoon as Thomas Frank prepares his side for their UEFA Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Thomas Frank will be hoping his Tottenham Hotspur side can return to winning ways as pressure continues to mount on the Dane, whose side has lost three on the bounce in all competitions.

There is a possibility this could be Frank’s final game in charge of Spurs, with Tottenham understood to be weighing up a managerial change following their dismal 2-1 defeat to West Ham United last weekend.

However, the task does not get any easier for the Tottenham head coach, who is preparing to face Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund in the penultimate matchday of the UEFA Champions League league phase.

The German side comes into this league-phase fixture on the back of two consecutive Bundesliga victories and sits tenth in the Champions League table, level on points with Tottenham in 11th, with both sides also sharing the same goal difference.

Victory for either club would significantly boost their chances of automatic qualification, with just one point separating 11th-placed Spurs from eighth-placed Atletico Madrid, should results elsewhere fall favourably.

Tottenham players spotted in Champions League training ahead of Borussia Dortmund

With pressure building on Frank, he was seen putting his Spurs players through their paces at Hotspur Way on Monday afternoon as preparations continued for the Champions League home clash against Dortmund.

Spurs may have struggled for consistency at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League, but in Europe, Tottenham’s home record has been close to flawless, and Frank will be hoping the home support provides a much-needed lift against the Bundesliga side.

Among those involved in the session were Guglielmo Vicario, Antonin Kinsky, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Kevin Danso, Destiny Udogie, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Djed Spence, Xavi Simons, Dane Scarlett, Randal Kolo Muani, Tynan Thompson, Junai Byfield, Luca Williams-Barnet, Yves Bissouma, Conor Gallagher, Dominic Solanke, Mathys Tel, and Wilson Odobert.

Plenty of other academy players were also spotted in first-team training due to the current injury crisis. Joao Palhinha was reportedly in the boot room in his training kit and sliders, and didn’t look like he was about to take part.

Amongst those absent from the training video at Hotspur Way were: Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Mohammed Kudus, and Ben Davies.

Dragusin is not eligible to play in the Champions League, having not been included in Frank’s initial squad. Conor Gallagher and Yves Bissouma are also ineligible, while a decision will have to be made between Dominic Solanke or Mathys Tel.

For supporters wondering how to watch Tottenham Hotspur versus Borussia Dortmund, the match is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, with kick-off set for 8.00 pm BST.

The game will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate.
