21-year-old is flattered by transfer rumours amid Spurs and Arsenal links

Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has admitted that he takes pride in the fact that he is on the radars of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Williams has emerged as one of the best young attacking talents in La Liga over the last few years and has become a regular for the Spanish national team.

90 min reported last month that since the 21-year-old’s current contract at San Mames runs out next summer, quite a few Premier League clubs, including Spurs, were monitoring his situation closely.

The report added that the player is also of interest to Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa, while also naming Bayern Munich and Juventus as his admirers.

The outlet suggested that Athletic Club are aware of the growing interest and have not given up hope of tying the pacer winger down to a new long-term contract.

Nico Williams is flattered by big transfer rumours

The youngster has now spoken about the speculation over his future, insisting that he allows his representatives to sort out the details.

Williams told Sport: “That big teams like Barca, Madrid or clubs in England are watching me means that I am doing my job well. I am clear about the decision I want to make. But, in the end, this is something that my representatives have (to deal with).

“(My agents) have been with me since I was 11 years old. And there are my parents, my brother… We’ll see, but I’m very calm and I want to stay that way.”

Williams’ words suggest that he certainly has his eye on making a big move either in January or next summer. One would expect Spurs to be interested as the pacy and direct winger will be a great fit for Postecoglou’s system.
