Football.London’s Alasdair Gold says that Alfie Whiteman could be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Alfie Whiteman could leave Tottenham

Gold claims that Ange Postecoglou may not have faith in Guglielmo Vicario’s backups, with neither Whiteman nor Brendon Austin having played a single minute of competitive football in the English game.

With young goalkeeper Luca Gunter thought to be impressing at Hotspur Way, he says that Whiteman could leave the club over the next few days if an offer arrives.

Tottenham’s goalkeeper situation at Hotspur Way

Gold suggests that academy shot-stopper, Josh Keeley, who spent the second half of last season on loan at National League side Barnet, could be set for another loan before the transfer deadline.

Leyton Orient are reported to be keen on securing the 21-year-old’s services on loan after signing Jamie Donley on a temporary deal last week.

Gold points out that Fraser Forster’s readiness might also be a concern since the 36-year-old has been out with a fractured foot for the last six months.

However, the journalist adds that Tottenham might not fix that issue before Friday’s deadline and could put off their search for a number two until January or next summer.

It does not seem like there is enough time left in the window for Tottenham to bring in a backup to Vicario.

Forster will probably continue as the Italian’s understudy this season, with Spurs likely to replace the Englishman when his contract runs out next summer.
