£26m-rated rumoured Spurs defensive target makes Premier League admission

Genoa central defender Radu Dragusin, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks, has admitted that he is a fan of the Premier League.

While Dragusin had been earmarked as a future star right from his teen years, the centre-back never managed to hit the expected heights during his time at Juventus (FotMob).

However, he is now starting to fulfil his potential at Genoa, having emerged as one of the most consistent defenders in Serie A over the last 18 months.

Multiple sources have reported over the last few weeks that Tottenham are eyeing a move for the Romanian international in the January transfer window (Mirko Di Natale).

On November 16, TMW reported that while Dragusin had signed a contract extension with Genoa, he has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with the club that he would be allowed to leave for a fee of €30m (£26.2m) in January.

Radu Dragusin would be keen on Premier League move

The 21-year-old’s agent, Florin Manea, confirmed earlier this month that there is plenty of interest in his client and that he had spoken to Spurs, Newcastle United and Arsenal regarding a potential transfer (Fanatik).

Dragusin has now spoken of his love of English football but he insisted that he is focused on doing well for Genoa and the Romanian national outfit.

He told AntenaPLAY (as relayed by AS.ro): “This [Premier League] is the championship I like, which is to my liking. It is a league that I follow and I hope to play there in the future.

“I am at Genoa. My favourite team is the national team. There are many rumours [about certain offers], but there is nothing written [in writing]. I never had a role model or idol. I say that I’m similar to [Virgil] van Dijk, but I don’t have an idol.”

Dragusin would be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou‘s system, given his aggression, ability to win duals, technical quality and recovery pace. The Romanian’s age and relatively low price range mean that he would likely be a very tempting option for Tottenham in January.
