£55m midfielder was told to join Spurs by team-mate on international duty

Tanguy Ndombele certainly gave Tottenham Hotspur fans a taste of things to come when he made his first appearance for the club.

The young midfielder came off the bench during Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Juventus in Singapore and brilliantly set-up Lucas Moura with a killer pass into the penalty area just minutes into his appearance.

Ndombele is being helped to adjust to life at his new club by fellow French international Moussa Sissoko, who is playing the role of big brother.

Sissoko has revealed to the Daily Mail that he was trying to convince Ndombele to make the switch to North London whilst the pair were on international duty together during the last campaign.

Ndombele subsequently completed his club record £55million switch from Lyon after Sissoko had sung the praises of what Spurs could offer him as a player.

“I spoke to him with the national team last season,” Sissoko told The Daily Mail.

“‘I knew the club was interested. I told him it’s a good club and if he comes here he will be happy. We’re all happy to have him with us.”

Opinion

Considering that Ndombele operates in a similar role to Sissoko, it has been a completely selfless act by the former Newcastle player to help the new recruit to settle in.

Sissoko impressed last season with his on the field performances and he is already stepping up to the mark off the field which is exactly the type of player we need to help take us to the next level.
