Micky Hazard took to Twitter after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 victory against Brighton to share his thoughts on the Premier League encounter.
The former midfielder praised the players for the hard fought victory against the Seagulls but also expressed his frustration.
Hazard has called for changes to be made to the current VAR system or risk it destroying the game of football.
On 24 minutes, Harry Kane thought he had fired the home side ahead when he latched onto a through ball from Harry Winks and finished first time beyond goalkeeper Matt Ryan.
Kane celebrated the goal with his team-mates only for VAR to intervene and decide that the England captain’s armpit was offside in the build-up to the goal.
Thankfully the decision did not come back to haunt Jose Mourinho’s side courtesy of a much improved second half performance which saw them come from a goal down to win the match 2-1 with goals from Kane and Dele.
Here’s what Hazard had to say on Twitter.
So a very good 3 points, hard earned but deserved. VAR REARS ITS UGLY HEAD AGAIN AND I HATE IT. How to destroy the best game in the World and make it boring. Can’t even celebrate a goal anymore without the fear of it being ruled out. It has to go or be refined #VAROUT
