‘A big step’ – Spurs summer signing hopeful of making impact in North London

Bryan Gil has admitted that he is excited to see what the future holds for him at Tottenham Hotspur after joining the club from Sevilla over the summer.

Tottenham agreed a deal of £21m plus Erik Lamela for Gil this summer after the winger enjoyed an impressive campaign on loan at Eibar last term.

Spurs fans will be hoping the skilful Spaniard settles in quickly to his new surroundings and is able to establish himself in the first-team sooner rather than later.

Gil has already demonstrated glimpses of the quality he possesses on the ball to the Tottenham faithful, starring in a central role in the club’s 3-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira in the Europa Conference League last month.

The youngster has now admitted that the move to North London is a ‘big step’ in his career and he is hopeful of making an impact at his new club.

When asked how he is taking to life at Spurs, the 20-year-old told Sport: “With great enthusiasm. There was a change in my career going to Tottenham this season and I think it’s a big step. I’m very excited.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Romero is arguably the most significant of the singings we have made this summer in terms of improving our starting eleven, it is Gil who I am most excited by.

While the 20-year-old will likely take a year to get adjusted to the demands of English football, his ceiling is evidently extremely high. I could see him evolving into David Silva-type midfielder in the future.
