Some Spurs fans on social media believe that the club made a big mistake by selling Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton and buying Matt Doherty to replace him.
Walker-Peters completed a permanent move to the Saints in the summer after an impressive loan spell on the south coast during the second half of last season.
The Spurs academy graduate has been in tremendous form this season and the £12m that Southampton paid for him looks to be a huge bargain.
The 23-year-old produced another brilliant display on Monday as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side beat Liverpool 1-0.
Walker-Peters did a fantastic man-marking job on Sadio Mane and took home the Man of the Match award for the third game in a row.
On the back of the England Under-21 international’s display, some Spurs fans insisted that they should have kept him at the club instead of buying Doherty.
However, others admitted that the deal worked out well for all parties since Tottenham were able to secure Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from the Saints.

We could have just bought Hojbjerg and keep KWP without buying Doherty 😣🤨

Name me a better swap deal which was beneficial for both the parties – you can't. Both have been winning the MOTMs very frequently for their clubs. Great business from both ends 👏 https://t.co/t7UH2OrXeB

This Kyle Walker-Peters lad looks decent. We should buy him to replace Doherty

Who’s the better right back… Matt Doherty or Kyle Walker-Peters. Personally from what we’ve seen this season I think we let KWP go a bit too early

Spurs Web Opinion
It is unlikely that we would have been able to get Hojbjerg for £15m if we had not let Walker-Peters join Southampton. I think that the deal suited all parties as Walker-Peters is a better fit for Hasenhuttl’s system that he was for Jose’s while the opposite seems to be true of Hojbjerg.
