‘A crazy game’ – Kane and Son react to Tottenham’s stunning 3-2 win over Man City

Harry Kane and Heung-min Son have said that Tottenham worked so hard to get a result during their side’s last gasp 3-2 win over Manchester City this evening.

The scoring in a hectic encounter at the Etihad Stadium was opened by new Spurs signing Dejan Kulusevski who registered his first goal for the club.

Spurs were up against it after the opener until lkay Gundogan tapped in an equaliser ahead of the break following a mishandled cross by Hugo Lloris.

Hosts City came out the blocks fast in the second half, but Spurs took the lead again through Kane who latched onto a brilliant Heung-min Son cross after a brilliantly worked counter-attack.

England captain Kane thought he added a third for Spurs with a quarter of an hour remaining but his tally was ruled offside following a VAR check.

But he notched his all-important second deep into the fifth minute of second half stoppage-time to hand Spurs a precious three points, just moments after Riyad Mahrez thought he’d rescued a point for the hosts.

Reacting to Tottenham’s late win over the Premier League leaders, Kane told Sky Sports: “It was a crazy game.

“We worked so hard for so long. Obviously being 2-1 ahead for quite a lot of the second half and to concede a penalty was so heartbreaking.

“Credit to the boys, we managed to find another chance at the end and thankfully I was able to put it away.

“That’s what the Premier League is all about, a great game for the neutral and obviously our fans will go home happy today.”

Son, who recorded two assists in the encounter, added: “We have a group of positive players and I think that means a lot. We still believed and we worked really hard for this game.

“When you face Manchester City you say, ‘Okay, this is the worst time’ but we thought maybe it is the best time to face them because they’re one of the best teams in the world.”

This is such a massive result for Tottenham who had to dig deep to grind out a win. They rode their luck, but they carved out plenty of good chances against the best team in the country. They need to take advantage of this result and build on it to continue their form for the rest of the campaign.
