‘A defeat to a possible win’ – Some Spurs fans relieved to hear update on forward

Some Spurs fans on social media are mightily relieved to hear reports that Son Heung-min has tested negative for COVID-19 and is expected to be available for the clash against Newcastle.

Tottenham take on a Newcastle side who will be buoyed by the news of the Saudi-led takeover.

However, it emerged over the last couple of days that the North London club could be without two of their first-team stars after they tested positive for COVID, with some reports suggesting Son might be one of the two. It should be said, this was not confirmed by Tottenham or the player.

Nuno Espirito Santo admitted in his press conference that the team is facing “huge issues” but did not explain this any further.

However, Yonhap News Agency have now reported that the South Korean returned a negative test for COVID and is thus expected to make the trip to St James’ Park.

Many Tottenham fans on social media were over the moon to hear the reports as they felt that the 29-year-old’s availability is crucial to the team’s hopes of getting a result this evening.

Spurs Web Opinion

I agree with the sentiment of these fans that it would be really difficult for us to get a result this evening without Son. All eyes will be on the teamsheet at 3.30 pm to see if the 29-year-old has made the cut.
