‘A desire for something else’ – Senior Spurs player admits he wants to leave now

Hugo Lloris has admitted that the time has come for him to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer after over a decade in North London.

During an interview back home in France, the goalkeeper revealed that he is ready for a new challenge away from the familiar jersey of Tottenham.

Unfortunately, because he sustained an injury before the season was even over, Hugo Lloris never got a proper goodbye on the pitch from the Spurs faithful.

In his recent interview, the Spurs captain was also keen to point out that he still has one year left on his Tottenham contract and was respectful of that fact, even if he does prefer to move on.

It has long since been reported that the Frenchman will be sold by Tottenham this summer as they look for a new long-term number one (Mirror and (Evening Standard).

The Athletic claim that Lloris has already received multiple offers, including a lucrative one from Saudi Arabia. He also spoke this week about the potential of moving back to France with his boyhood club, Nice (BFM Nice Côte d’Azur via RMC Sport).

Now, Lloris has opened up more about his desire to move on this summer (Nice-Matin): “We have reached an important moment, whether it be for the club or me. It’s the end of an era.

“I have a desire for something else. I will carefully study what is possible. However, I haven’t forgotten that I have a year left on my contract at Tottenham, and in football, it’s always hard to predict what will happen.”

On what he wants from his next project, he added: “The most important thing is I find a project where I thrive.” He also did not rule out a return to Nice.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Hugo Lloris should be sent off with nothing but good memories and hearty thank yous. He remained loyal to Tottenham through thick and thin, and the level of his performances (excluding this season) were always remarkably high, even when Spurs were struggling. A true modern club legend!
