Tottenham Hotspur have just one player in the Premier League Team of the Season chosen by Gary Neville, with Destiny Udogie getting the nod at left-back in his debut season in England.
After officially signing for Spurs back in 2022, Udogie spent another year on loan with his former club, Udinese, to help his development.
He joined up with the Lilywhites last summer and immediately became Ange Postecoglou‘s preferred choice at left-back for the season.
And what a season it has been, too. The young Italian has made 28 appearances, scored two goals, and added three assists for Spurs (Transfermarkt).
But, Udogie’s success is down to far more than just numbers and statistics. The 21-year-old has played with a confidence and composure that you would not expect from someone so young and someone only just beginning to adapt to the Premier League.

Asked to choose his team of the season for the division, Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, found a spot for Udogie in his XI.
On the inclusion of Udogie, Neville said: “It’s been a struggle for most teams at left-back, even at the top two teams. At City, it’s been a struggle at times, but obviously, Gvardiol has come in in the last few months. Arsenal it’s the one position they’ve changed around.
“But Udogie, he’s a different level when he played for Tottenham and he’s been a massive miss for them [since his injury].”

Neville is right, it’s not been a great year for left-backs in terms of consistency. Destiny Udogie has been one of the brightest sparks in this Tottenham team this season, and I, for one, cannot wait to see him back in action once he recovers from his surgery.
