‘A different story’ – Chris Sutton shares his Man Utd v Spurs score prediction

Former Celtic and Blackburn Rovers forward Chris Sutton has shared his score prediction prior to the Premier League encounter between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

With Antonio Conte’s side having played out a 2-0 victory against Everton on Saturday evening, Spurs will be looking to make it four wins out of four.

Last time out, United were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle United which sees them seven points behind this evening’s opponents ahead of kick-off..

Sutton believes that Tottenham’s threat on the counter attack will prove to be more than Erik ten Hag’s side can handle and also backed Harry Kane to score from the penalty spot once again.

He told BBC Sport: “Manchester United rode their luck against Newcastle, but I think it will be a different story against Spurs.

“If Harry Kane gets any chances, then he is in the kind of form to take them.

“At the other end, United were slightly toothless against the Magpies. They missed Christian Eriksen, who was out with illness and is still a doubt for this game, and they will need his craft to cause his former club any problems.

“Even if Eriksen plays, however, I’m going for an Antonio Conte counter-attacking win for Tottenham, with Kane kicking things off by winning another penalty and slotting this one away too.

“Sutton’s prediction: 1-3.”

A win at Old Trafford would be a huge boost for Tottenham’s push for a top four finish and continue their best-ever start to a Premier League campaign.

Sutton is right to highlight the threat of Eriksen, who proved during his time at Tottenham time and time again that he can unlock a defence with a key pass, or punish them with a set-piece.
