‘A disgrace’ – Ex-Prem star explains why Dele Alli should be dropped for Champions League final

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League season may be over, but there is still football to be played as the squad prepares for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Spurs looked down and out in the semi-final against Ajax earlier this month, with the North London club down 3-0 on aggregate.

However, a second-half hat-trick from Lucas Moura was enough to send Spurs through to the final in sensational style.

Harry Kane has been out injured since the first leg of the quarter-finals, however, the England captain could be fit to start in Madrid (Express).

Usually, Moura would be the one to step down to provide a starting spot for Kane, but could Pochettino really leave the Brazilian out after his heroics?

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes it would be ‘a disgrace’ to drop Moura after what he achieved in Amsterdam and would instead demote Dele Alli to the bench (TalkSPORT).

He said: “I would feel a little bit hard done by. I’ve just scored a hat-trick away from home to get Tottenham through to the final and then you leave me out?

“It’s a disgrace if they leave him out. To score a hat-trick in a game as important as that was at Ajax.

“You can’t leave him out. You’d have to leave Dele out.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

It is hard to argue with the logic here, as I would probably also drop Alli if Kane was fit and ready. If he is not 100%, I would have Kane on the bench as an impact sub. However, if you had to drop one attacking star, Dele would have to be the choice. This would allow Spurs to match Liverpool’s formation, with Son, Kane, Moura up top as opposed to Mane, Firmino, Salah.
