‘A dream come true’ – Walker-Peters sends emotional goodbye message to Spurs fans

Kyle Walker-Peters has taken to social media to send an emotional goodbye message to Spurs fans after he completed a permanent move to Southampton yesterday.

As expected, the right-back’s move to St Mary’s was confirmed shortly after Tottenham announced the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The 23-year-old had an extremely impressive loan spell at the South Coast during the second half of the season. He made the right-back spot his own following the restart and his displays earned the praise of Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl (Southern Daily Echo).

The Spurs academy graduate’s showing clearly convinced Southampton to part ways with a reported £12million to bring him to the club permanently.

After sealing his move, the youngster admitted that he is looking forward to continuing where he left off at the club.

He also thanked Tottenham for what they had done for him over the years and admitted that it had been a privilege to represent his boyhood club.

Walker-Peters was unlucky not to have been given more opportunities for the first-team. We should have ideally loaned him out back in 2018 when he did not seem too far away from breaking into the team. However, Pochettino decided to keep him around without playing him and that proved to be a set back for his development.
