‘A fantastic game’ – Conte praises youngster following his display at Man City

Antonio Conte has praised the performance of Dejan Kulusevski following Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 win over Manchester City.

Spurs claimed a last gasp victory over the Premier League leaders on Saturday evening, with January signing Kulusevski notching his first goal for the club alongside a double from Harry Kane.

The Swedish international slotted home the game’s opener with the match just five minutes old after receiving a selfless square pass from Heung-min Son.

With the game level at 2-2 deep into second half injury time, Kulusevski was then part of Tottenham’s shock winner when his perfectly floated cross was headed in by England captain Kane.

Kulusevski was called into action at both ends of the pitch, having to be part of Spurs’ counterattack while also being tasked with tracking back to help Emerson Royal on the right-hand side when defending the threat from the Premier League leaders.

While the performance on the whole was a positive one from Spurs, Conte admitted the 21-year-old played a big part in what could prove to be a crucial three points in the race to finish in the top four.

Conte told Football.London: “To speak about only one player is difficult for me. They made a fantastic performance.

“Kulusevski played a fantastic game and he’s only 21 years old but he’s got good experience because when you play for Juventus you have to play with a lot of pressure.”

Kulusevski played with confidence, both going forward and defensively, and hopefully, that should set him up to hit a good patch of form. Conte mentioned that he is still so young and possesses a lot of experience with playing under pressure and it showed today, especially for the set-up for Kane’s winning strike.
