‘A feeling I can’t describe’ – Kulusevski opens up on emotions after Kane winner

Dejan Kulusevski has admitted that the feeling after the final whistle at the Etihad was ‘amazing’ and it was made all the sweeter coming off the back of a few ‘bad months’ he had at Juventus.

Kulusevski certainly did not seem fazed in his first Premier League start for Spurs, which came away at the reigning Champions.

The Swede opened the scoring for the Lilywhites and provided the assist for Harry Kane’s winner deep into stoppage time.

When the Tottenham players were celebrating wildly in front of the away fans after Kane’s winner, Kulusevski had a much calmer demeanour after the striker headed home his cross.

When asked if he was concerned about being offside after seeing a goal being chalked off by VAR earlier in the game, the winger told Tottenham’s official website: “No I didn’t think about it.

“To be honest, the first one I really didn’t think it was offside because I’m not usually offside in those positions. After I was a little bit afraid of being offside, I felt more offside for the second one.”

Kulusevski admitted that the win was sweeter given the frustration he had endured at the Allianz Stadium earlier this season.

He said: “That’s a feeling I can’t describe.

“It’s is so amazing because it’s been a couple of bad months that I felt not being myself and that feeling is amazing and I’m so grateful for the opportunity this club gave me and the coach that he let me play and the players that helped me a lot.”

The new Spurs signing insisted that he and his teammates had full faith in the game plan that Antonio Conte had prepared heading into Saturday’s clash.

He added: “I love being underdogs. You [come] here, you have to defend because you play against Manchester City but we [have to] trust the coach and when the coach says something to do, we have to do it and we have to help each other because if we as players don’t help each other, we cannot do this type of result. Just proud of everybody.”

Spurs Web Opinion

For a guy who is just 21 years old, Kulusevski seems to have a mature head on his shoulders. He comes across as humble and keen to learn, which is perhaps one of the reasons that Conte wanted to bring him in.

Starting him against City was a huge vote of confidence from the Spurs boss and the Swede certainly repaid the 52-year-old’s faith in him with his performance.
