Cristian Romero has admitted that he thoroughly enjoys lining up alongside Micky van de Ven i the heart of the defence on a regular basis for Tottenham Hotspur.
Romero and van de Ven complement each other well, with the Dutchman’s recovery pace and composure at the back allowing the Spurs vice-captain to be at his aggressive best.
The former Wolfsburg stopper has surprised one and all with how well has settled into the Premier League, possessing the sport of calmness one would rarely see with someone so young and has since gone on to earn his first senior cap for the Netherlands.
Romero and Van de Ven are Tottenham’s best pairing since Vertonghen and Alderweireld
The Argentine has been quite complimentary of his partner in the past, admitting last month that it is quite easy to play with the 22-year-old and even describing him as one of the best in his position across the Premier League (Sky Sports’ James Savundra).
They have formed such a formidable pairing that new signing Radu Dragusin is still waiting for his first start since his move for Genoa a month and a half ago.
Ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Crystal Palace, Romero told Spurs’ matchday programme about Van de Ven: “It’s a real pleasure to be playing alongside Micky. I think as a footballer you know when you’ve got a good connection with someone and a good relationship.”
