Dominic Solanke meets the Spurs fans

Solanke officially signed for Spurs on Sunday and was unveiled in front of the fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the club’s pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.

According to reports, the Lilywhites have paid a club record £65m for the 26-year-old, with Ange Postecoglou confirming that the Englishman was his number one striker target this summer (Hayters TV)

While the Tottenham head coach has also reiterated that he does not see Solanke as a direct replacement for Kane (Football.London), comparisons with the Spurs legend will be inevitable, with the former Cherries star being the first striker to arrive through the door since the 31-year-old’s departure last summer.

Harry Kane is a fan of Dominic Solanke

The England captain himself has given his approval for the transfer and revealed that he wished the newcomer the best of luck when he saw him ahead of Spurs’ clash against Bayern.

Kane told Sky Sports: “Dom is a great player, plays with high intensity, high speed. Yeah, I think it is a really good signing.

“I saw him in the dressing room there and wished him all the best. I hope he has a great season.”

While comparisons with Kane might be made here and there, it is good for Solanke that he does not immediately replace the Tottenham legend, arriving a year after his departure.

That should absolve him of some of the pressure.
