‘A great signing’ – Boss admits he received high praise about Spurs man

Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall has admitted that his assistant Graeme Jones recommended Cameron Carter-Vickers very highly, having worked with the Spurs defender during his time as Luton Town manager last season.

The Tottenham defender completed a season-long loan move to Bournemouth on deadline day, after signing a one-year extension to his contract at Spurs, after his current deal due to expire at the end of this season.

The USA international has had spells in the Championship at Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke City and Luton Town over the last three seasons, with varying degrees of success.

He came into his own during his time at Luton during the second half of last season, playing a crucial role in helping the Hatters avoid relegation to League One.

Carter-Vickers will have to contend with higher expectations at the Vitality Stadium this season as Bournemouth aim to bounce straight back up after their relegation from the Premier League.

Tindall admitted that he is delighted to have the Spurs man on board and revealed that Jones played an important role in the club’s decision to sign the academy graduate.

When asked about Carter-Vickers’ arrival, the Cherries boss told Bournemouth Echo: “He’s someone we’ve been aware of for a while.

“He’s someone that Graeme (Jones) spoke very, very highly of from his time at Luton and seeing him ourselves, he’s a very, very good player.

“A very good defender and he will certainly add to the group.

“I’m really happy. Obviously, we’ve lost a lot of players from the squad last year.

“I think we lost 10 or 11 players from the Premier League squad that were influential. If you lose that many players and you only bring in (Rodrigo) Riquelme, you do leave yourself a little bit short.

“I felt we needed to add another body to give us some strength in depth and Cameron is a great signing for us.”
