‘A great signing’ – Postecoglou has been thrilled with one new Tottenham recruit

In his latest press conference, Ange Postecoglou has been looking ahead to the game against West Ham tomorrow, and discussed the impact Timo Werner has had on his squad, and what he can offer in the future.

Spurs go into the game tomorrow on the back of a hard-fought win over Luton Town at the weekend. Ange Postecoglou had to rally his men to come back from a goal down at half-time, but saw a much-improved display in the second half on Saturday.

Brennan Johnson played a starring role in that win, coming off the bench at the break to transform the game. The Welshman forced the own goal to level the scores, and then laid off the ball for Heung-min Son to find the winner late on.

Timo Werner can get even better

However, fellow attacker Timo Werner has also been attracting praise of late, and he had a big impact in the game against Luton. Indeed, it was Werner who played the ball into the box for Johnson to find Son, and the 28-year-old had his fair share of chances himself, too.

Speaking to the press today (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked about the German, and had nothing but good things to say.

He said: “In terms of his future, like most players, the decisions will be made at the appropriate time. I think he’s been a great signing. He’s been a really important part of our structure and I think he can also improve.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m really liking what I’m seeing of Werner. He’s hard-working and has all the skill and pace our system needs. For the sake of £15m, I think he would be a great permanent addition to our squad. If he can just find a touch more composure in front of goal, he’d be an incredible asset.
