‘A journey I could only dream of’ – 20-year-old posts emotional Spurs farewell

Maksim Paskotsi has posted a touching message on social media after sealing a switch to Grasshopper Club Zurich, thanking Tottenham Hotspur for everything they have done for him over the past few years.

Paskotsi joined the Tottenham youth setup back in 2020 after impressing in his native Estonia and the versatile defender featured regularly for the North London club’s Under-18s and Under-21s.

However, the 20-year-old struggled to make the next step up, with his solitary first-team appearance for the Lilywhites coming in the Europa Conference League qualifying first leg against Pacos de Ferreira in August 2021.

The centre-back has impressed at the international level, having won 16 caps for Estonia’s senior side since making his debut back in March of 2021.

Paskotsi will now ply his trade in Switzerland for one of the country’s biggest clubs, Grasshoppers Zurich, who have 27 titles to their name, securing his services.

The youngster has now taken to Instagram to post an emotional message, admitting that his three years at Spurs have been the stuff of dreams and that he will never forget what the club have done for him.

This is the right time for Paskotsi to move on as he was not looking likely to break into the first-team set-up at Spurs any time soon, particularly with Alfie Dorrington and summer signing, Ashley Phillips, now likely ahead of him in the pecking order.
