‘A lot of interest’ – 20-year-old who had trial at Spurs this year speaks about his future

Former Manchester United youngster, Dion McGhee, who had a trial at Tottenham Hotspur this year, has now admitted that plenty of foreign clubs are interested in him.

The midfielder, who had been with the United academy since the age of 9, was released at the end of last season and it was reported that Tottenham had offered him a trial back in August (Vavel).

Reports previously indicated that West Ham United and Rangers were also interested in snapping up the 20-year-old.

The youngster then had a temporary audition at Newcastle at the end of last month, with Soccerway listing McGhee as part of the Magpies side that lost away at Reading.

However, it now looks as though the Man Utd academy product is not bound for either Spurs or Newcastle, as he admitted that he is yet to make a decision on where his future lies. The 20-year-old did add that it looks as if he will be moving abroad.

When asked about his plans, McGhee told Manchester Evening News: “My future plans are that as soon as I can go ahead and sign that’s what I’m going to do.

“There has been a lot of interest abroad, in Spain, Germany and Portugal and I’m really excited to share what’s coming up.

“It looks like I’m going abroad at the moment and I can’t wait to get cracking.”
