‘A lot of joy’ – Spurs star explains main difference between Postecoglou and Conte

Speaking at the FC Futures event, Dejan Kulusevski was asked to compare Ange Postecoglou and Antonio Conte. Naturally, the Tottenham man avoided criticising his former coach, but had plenty of nice things to say about his current manager.

Dejan Kulusevski was actually signed by Antonio Conte, back in January of last year. He had a phenomenal start to life under the Italian, too, bagging five goals and eight assists at the backend of the season (Transfermarkt).

The Swedish international was one of many Spurs players to suffer last season, with injuries and a dip in form affecting Kulusevski more than most in the squad.

Kulusevski has bounced back from that difficult campaign, though, and looks revitalised under Ange Postecoglou, as do many in the team.

Postecoglou has given Spurs players belief

Life is good under Postecoglou. It seems the players are happier than ever, and results are going Tottenham’s way, too.

So, when asked by the media at the FC Futures event (as relayed by Ben Jacobs) how he compares the current atmosphere to the one when Conte was in charge, it’s not surprising that Kulusevski had nothing but positive things to say about his current manager.

He said: “He’s just brought a lot of happiness, a lot of joy. He has us believing in ourselves again. He’s a fantastic man, an unbelievable coach and we’re very happy we can work with a guy like that.

“We just want to keep learning, and the season is long, but I think we are on a great path. Can we win the Premier League? Well, everything is possible in life. It’s a very, very long season.

“So we just know that we have to work hard every day, keep listening to the coach and be real to each other and just play together, play hard every day. And then when each game is over, when the season is over, we will see where we’ll be.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s very telling that Kulusevski, and any Spurs player you speak to, really, are all mentioning the word happy. The positive atmosphere and relationship Postecoglou has created at the club is working wonders, and the players are thriving right now.
