‘A problem on my foot’ – Spurs attacker offers injury update on social media

Erik Lamela has revealed on Instagram that he has a minor foot injury and assured fans that he is working hard to come back as soon as possible.

Spurs fans would have been forgiven for expecting the Argentine to struggle for game time this season after the attacking acquisitions the club made over the summer.

However, Lamela has once again shown his resilience and fighting spirit and seems to have moved ahead of the likes of Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn in the pecking order.

The 28-year-old has put in several impressive performances already and Jose Mourinho has shown plenty of trust in him by giving him a start in some crucial games, such as the 6-1 win at Old Trafford.

Mourinho admitted on Wednesday that Lamela has been nursing an injury and that the club have decided to give him a rest, with the international break coming up after this weekend (Football.London).

The midfielder took to Instagram to post a picture of him in the gym, with the caption: “I have a problem on my foot and I have to be out of the field for a short time to fix it. I’m already working to get back in the best shape I can.”
