‘If I look at Spurs’ – Liverpool star compliments transfers and Conte factor

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson expects Tottenham Hotspur to enjoy a ‘strong’ campaign under Antonio Conte after signing some ‘really good players’.

Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici have gone out of their way to delve into the market uncharacteristically early, showing their support by backing Conte.

ENIC have also invested £150million into Spurs (The Guardian) which is a rarity, looking at the way they have carried themselves in the past. That has paved the way for Levy and Paratici to facilitate seven transfer moves so far in this window.

Players such as Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie (Fabrizio Romano) have joined the north London club except for the latter who will remain on loan at Udinese for this campaign (BBC Sport).

Henderson, captaining one of the title favourites in the Reds, has tipped Conte’s team to find success in this campaign. The central midfielder pointed at Tottenham’s performances under the Italian boss and the signings they have made to make his case.

Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, Henderson said: “Anything can happen. But if I look at Spurs who qualified for the Champions League. Antonio Conte has done a really good job there and has brought some really good players in, so they’ll be strong.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

There is certainly an increased expectation following the additions we have made to the team. Players like Perisic, Bissouma and Richarlison have uplifted the squad’s quality while also increasing the depth in the process alongside the other reinforcements.

In such a case, one would expect us to win a cup this season which is a reasonable ask after accounting for Conte’s impressive domestic record. That, coupled with another top-four finish, can be deemed a successful season for us.
