‘A rumour’ – Ex-Spurs man reveals what he has heard about new Kane contract

Darren Bent has apparently heard a rumour that Harry Kane is set to sign a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane is now back among the goals for Spurs after a lacklustre start to the season, with the striker finding the back of the net in his last three Premier League games against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Southampton.

The Athletic reported over the weekend that the England captain is loving work under Antonio Conte and suggested a new contract could be in the offing for the 28-year-old if Spurs continue to progress under the Italian.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold stated a few days ago that those in Kane’s camp, as well as sources at Tottenham, deny any talks have begun over a new deal with the England captain.

However, Bent has now revealed he has heard a rumour the striker may indeed commit his future to the North London club.

Bent was keen to stress that ‘this is a rumour’, but claimed: “I’ve heard Kane will potentially sign a new deal and stay at Spurs.”

I do not think Kane will be in a hurry to commit his future to the club after what happened in the summer unless the contract comes with a release clause.

The striker would probably want to wait and see if the club progresses under Conte. If the 28-year-old does not sign a new deal before the summer, Spurs will certainly have a big decision to make.
