‘A special place in my heart’ – Pochettino sends touching message to Tottenham

Tottenham winger Maurizio Pochettino, son of former Spurs boss Mauricio, has taken to social media to send a heartfelt message thanking everyone at the club after he completed a deadline day move to Watford.

Pochettino joined the Tottenham academy in 2017 from Southampton, after his father made the same move from the South Coast to North London three years prior.

The 19-year-old came up through the ranks and has been part of the Under-23 set-up for the last two seasons.

The winger chose to stay on at the club despite his father being relieved of his duties as Spurs boss in November 2019.

Reports claimed that Pochettino felt there was too much competition ahead of him at Spurs and decided that a move to Watford would give him a better shot of getting first-team football.

After sealing the move, the youngster took to Instagram to admit that the Lilywhites will always have a special place in his hear.

He wrote: “I would like to say thank you to all the staff at Spurs for how you welcomed me from the first day, and for all the help and advice throughout the years that has made me develop into the player and person I am today.

“I have also made a lot of memories and friendships along the way which I will take with me for the rest of my career and I wish the team all the best for the rest of the season. Spurs will always have a special place in my heart! #COYS”
