‘A tough one’- Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham vs Chelsea score

Mark Lawrenson expects Tottenham Hotspur to cruise to an easy win against Chelsea on Monday and pile on the misery for Mauricio Pochettino.

As one would expect, the build-up to the game has revolved around Pochettino’s return to Tottenham for the first time since his sacking four years ago.

Under normal circumstances, the Argentine would have certainly been received very warmly by the Tottenham faithful, given the fantastic memories he gave the fans during his five and a half years at the club.

However, he will return to N17 as the Chelsea boss on Monday, with many supporters seeing the move to the Blues as a betrayal by the 51-year-old, who might receive quite a few jeers.

On the pitch, the trajectory of the two clubs could not be more different, with Spurs sitting pretty at the top of the table, unbeaten in their ten matches while Chelsea are struggling to string results together.

Who will come out on top in Tottenham vs Chelsea?

Lawrenson expects the Lilywhites to move 17 points clear of their local rivals with a comfortable win on Monday.

He told Paddy Power: “Mauricio Pochettino going back to Tottenham will be fun! Spurs are still going well and they beat Crystal Palace last time. It’s a tough one this. I just can’t see Chelsea scoring.”

Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Chelsea’s 11th place is a fair reflection of the quality of football they have played this season. They have simply lacked players who can find the back of the net with regularity but their general play has been quite good.

So, we might be in for a rude awakening if we expect a straight-forward game on Monday. I certainly do not expect Spurs to blow Chelsea away.
