Tottenham duo Giovani Lo Celso and Juan Foyth both started for Argentina as they edged out Brazil 1-0 away from home on Friday.
It was Lionel Messi who came up with the only goal in the game in the 13th minute, with the visitors defending quite resolutely to retain a clean sheet.
While it was a great result for the Spurs duo, Foyth did have one really bad moment in the game. He gave the ball away inside his own penalty area attempting a piece of skill that eventually led to a penalty for the home side.
Thankfully, Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus missed from the spot for Brazil to spare Foyth’s blushes.
Some Spurs fans were left unimpressed by the defender’s mistake and insisted that he is too much of a liability to be trusted to start every week for the club.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to his performance against Brazil:
are we gonna ignore the calamity Juan Foyth just had???????? absolute liability wherever the fuck you put him https://t.co/0GU7HocVIh

He was awful! Lost the ball a lot, lost his man a lot & lost the plot a lot! Tried to dribble the ball showboat style from defence & lost it in the lead up to the penalty.

All I can focus on is Foyth losing the ball in the penalty area ffs. This guy will actually never learn it’s unbelievable. https://t.co/3By9R73BIh

Apart from Foyth trying a cruyff turn in his own 6 yard box that led to a penalty (missed) he’s been very good. Totally shut down Willian. Lo Celso been quiet but stuck out on left wing not ideal. Great game though ???

Foyth tried dribbling on the edge of his own box, lost the ball which lead to a penalty, but Jesus missed.

Apart from pushing the self-destruct button he did a great job. Inexcusable mistake

Spurs Web Opinion
Apart from that momentary lapse of concentration, I thought Foyth did well in the game. That inclination to play himself out of trouble is something the defender has to stamp out of his game. However, I still believe he is an extremely promising option at full back and has all the ingredients to become a top player.
