‘Absolutely gutted’ – Journalist reveals the latest setback in Spurs full-back’s injury

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Ryan Sessegnon has now injured the other hamstring to the one that he did at the start of the season, explaining that the left-back was despondent when he picked up the injury.

Sessegnon has been plagued with constant injury problems right from the time he joined Tottenham. Baring a spell under Antonio Conte, the former Fulham man simply has not had the sort of continuity needed to showcase his quality.

The 23-year-old had worked hard to recover from the hamstring surgery he had during pre-season.

The youngster might have perhaps thought he now finally had a chance to impress Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff on the training ground but disaster struck for him over the weekend.

While featuring for Tottenham’s Under-21s against West Ham on Saturday, Sessegnon pulled up with another injury in the first half, having to be withdrawn from the game in the 33rd minute.

Ryan Sessegnon has injured the other hamstring now

Gold has now shed light on the full-back’s injury and his reaction when the incident occurred.

The journalist revealed on The Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “33 minutes was when he went down. You looked at him and he stayed down with his hands on his head, he was absolutely gutted.

“The physios worked on him for five minutes, and he couldn’t even put much weight on it. It was just rubbish. From what I understand it is a hamstring problem, but this time it’s on the other side.”

My heart goes out to Sessegnon as it has to be extremely deflating to work so hard to return to action, only for your body to fail you again. I am sure Tottenham are giving the youngster all the help he needs to mentally be able to cope with his unfortunate circumstances.
