‘Absolutely mad’ – Mark Lawrenson shares Spurs v Newcastle score prediction

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Newcastle United in tomorrow evening’s match.

Antonio Conte’s side return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the back of Wednesday’s disappointing loss at the hands of Manchester United.

Newcastle on the other hand head into the fixture having beaten Everton with Miguel Almirón’s stunner proving to be the difference and sat in a respectable sixth place in the table heading into this weekend’s fixtures.

Conte will again without both Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski after the Swede suffered a fresh setback on a hamstring injury, while Lucas Moura is not yet fit to start as he continues his return from a tendon issue (Football.London).

Lawrenson believes that Spurs will bounce back against the Magpies by taking all three points and keep a clean sheet in the process.

He told Paddy Power: “Newcastle are on a good run and they’re not conceding many goals which is good but Spurs are Spurs. They didn’t really turn up at Old Trafford but I think they’ll win here and that inconsistency will drive Antonio Conte absolutely mad.

“Tottenham 2-0 Newcastle.”

Nothing less than a win will satisfy Tottenham fans who not only expect the three points but also a much better performance than what was witnessed at Old Trafford.

Spurs are likely to continue with a 3-5-2 formation, but need to do much better in midfield and when in possession if they are to avoid dropping any points.
