‘Absolutely sensational’ – BT Sport pundit on this Tottenham player

Tottenham Hotspur earned both a draw and safe passage through to the knockouts when taking on Barcelona last night.

Spurs had to at least match whatever result Inter Milan managed at home to PSV, and luckily a 1-1 draw was enough.

Tottenham were actually unlucky not to come away with at least a few goals from the Camp Nou, as they peppered the Barca goal all night.

Son, Kane, and Lucas all missed clear cut chances before the Brazilian finally converted late on.

However, on a night of attacking flair and qualification for Tottenham, it was a defender who stole the show for Spurs.

Danny Rose looked like a player of old on the famous Cam Nou pitch, as he flew up and down the left channel all night.

Usually a wing back leaves themselves compromised when going all out in attack, but Rose was able to cover the ground and pull off some world class tackles to boot.

BT Sport pundit and ex-Spurs man Jermaine Jenas was impressed with the full back (Football London): “There were some big performances tonight, Danny Rose was absolutely sensational, [Christian] Eriksen was dropping into that deeper position and he can play a pass from anywhere.

“That’s a big moment for Mauricio [Pochettino] and his side.

“They had more than one opportunity to make it far more comfortable, but sometimes football is like this and you just have to stick at it.

“They believed, they felt they could get back into it, they ground out the result they needed and today the players were brilliant and deserved more.”
