‘Accumulation of injuries’ – Mourinho reveals why Kane was rested tonight

Jose Mourinho revealed that Harry Kane made the decision not to play against Wolfsberger AC this evening in the Europa League.

The Spurs head coach claimed that, due to Kane’s recent injuries and the minutes he has played since returning, playing against the Austrian side could be a risk.

However, even though the club’s top scorer was left at home, Tottenham didn’t struggle to find the back of the net in Europe.

Heung-min Son, Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius all got on the scoresheet in Kane’s absence with some expertly taken strikes.

Son led the line at the start of the game, with Vinicius only making the bench, although the Brazilian understudy did come on and play the second 45.

Tottenham play London rivals West Ham United at the weekend and, although Kane missed the game tonight, Mourinho added that he will be ready to play against the Hammers.

He said (Jonathan Veal): “He made the decision based on his feeling that to play this game could be a risk based on the accumulation of injuries and minutes he has. I believe Sunday he will be OK and ready.”
