James Maddison is still hopeful that he will get to play alongside Harry Kane during the upcoming campaign.
Kane’s future remains subject of much speculation, with German outlets continuing to be confident that Bayern Munich will be able to get a deal for the England captain over the line before the transfer deadline (Bild).
This was also backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who said a couple of days ago that despite there being a significant distance between the two club’s valuations of the striker following their latest meeting on Monday, there is still optimism about the deal among the Bundesliga club’s hierarchy.
Kane would certainly not be easy to replace if he departs Spurs but the North London club are seemingly making contingency plans, with the Lilywhites being linked with moves for several centre-forwards over recent days (Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness).
Maddison would like to play with Kane at Spurs
Maddison certainly knows what the 30-year-old can bring to the team, having played alongside him for the Three Lions, and the attacking midfielder believes that the Spurs striker is the best number nine in world football at the moment.
When asked if he is hoping to play with Kane, the former Leicester City man told talkSPORT: “Harry is a brilliant player, arguably the best no.9 in world football in my opinion. Actually, I think he is the best No. 9 in world football.
“Of course, we’ve obviously played together at England, he’s a brilliant, clever player, someone who can do it all so who wouldn’t look forward to playing with that?”
Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that Kane has remained tight-lipped, allied with the fact that Levy has met with Bayern officials on multiple occasions, suggests that there is a willingness among all parties to agree on a deal.
I would expect a significant breakthrough in the negotiations sooner rather than later.
