No chance for Adebayor

Manchester City have told Emmanuel Adebayor that he has no chance of playing if he remains at the club this season.

Tottenham had agreed a £5.5million fee to take the striker to White Hart Lane on a permanent deal following a successful loan spell last campaign, only for Adebayor to fail to agree severance terms with City.

We all know Adebayor commands a massive wage of £170,000 which means a deal can only be done if City agree to pay a percentage of his wages, or if the player himself accepts a drastic reduction in wages which is very unlikely.

“I am sorry for Adebayor because he has no chance at City,” Manager Roberto Mancini told the press.

“He has absolutely no chance of playing this season here so, for us, it’s important he can find a good solution.”

With the Premier League kicking off this weekend and the fact that we only have Defoe as a senior striker is very worrying.

  1. I was watching the Olympics final with an eye on Damiao. Quite frankly if we are going to bid EUR 20m to start off negotiations with Inter for him – he's not worth that kind of money. Better we invest that in somehow getting Adebayor to the Lane and getting him to combine with Olympic gold winner Gio.

  2. What game were you watching Mad Dog? I thought that Damiao wasn’t at his best but even so he showed exactly why he is precisely what we need in a striker within our new system. He showed that he was physical and could hold up the ball, bringing his team mates in to play, as well as being able to run at defenders and be a constant threat…all this in a team that didn’t really turn up against Mexico! I would actually pay up to £30million to aquire him if that’s what u takes. We have to face the fact that getting robbed as we did last season and missing out on Champions League football means we will struggle entice a proven striker of world class ability so we will have to take a punt. I feel like Damiao is a calculated risk, we’ve watched him for years and he isn’t your typical Brazilian striker, he has very classic #9 British qualities as at his young age there will be a sell-on value which we all know Levy loves! I think we need Ade as well. Villas-Boas will rotate more than Redknapp and rightly so. Please get Damiao! Please! He will be adored at the Lane I promise you. Super Tottenham

  3. after watching damiao play for brazil recently come tothe conclusion that ade is a much better player all round. he would also cost us less than what damiao would come in at , plus with ade we have proven premiership player with bags of experience.

  4. All these players — Adebayor, Sandro, Giovani — Do they know what day the new season starts, even what time of day it is?

  5. must be hard times at my beloved spurs, no money? all teams around us reinforcing themselves a having no financial or ability to attract players.yet spurs give the impression of having no money and no ability to attract players so where is the problem? a question i m certain all spurs fans would like to know the answer.
