Tottenham Hotspur may be saying farewell to Ivan Perisic this month, as Fabrizio Romano claims the veteran is getting closer and closer to a dream comeback at his first ever club, Hajduk Split.
Ivan Perisic‘s first—and likely last—venture into English football hasn’t quite gone to plan. The Croatian star arrived at Spurs last summer to team up with his former coach, Antonio Conte, but the team endured a difficult season all round.
For Perisic specifically, it wasn’t disastrous. The 34-year-old registered an impressive 12 assists and scored one goal last term (Transfermarkt).
Despite rumours suggesting he would move on in the summer, Perisic stayed in North London and early signs suggested he could be a useful weapon in Ange Postecoglou‘s arsenal this year. Perisic claimed two assists at the start of the season (Transfermarkt), but his campaign was cut short in September.
A severe ACL injury has kept Perisic out of action for months now, and Postecoglou has even admitted it is very unlikely the winger would feature for Spurs ever again (Football.London).

Hajduk Split set to sign Perisic on loan
However, it is not all doom and gloom for Perisic, as he is very much a wanted man, with his former club Hajduk Split keen to sign him (Dalmatinski Portal). Now, Fabrizio Romano has an update on the situation, and it seems Perisic could be on his way back to Croatia sooner rather than later.
Romano tweeted: “Ivan Perisić comeback to Hajduk Split is advancing well, now at the final stages! Perisić is keen on returning to make history at the club. Understand Tottenham are prepared to accept loan move until the end of the season.”
The finer details of the arrangement—such as who would cover Perisic’s huge salary—are unknown at this stage.
Spurs Web Opinion
If we can get Hajduk Split to cover even a portion of Perisic’s £200,000 a week wages, then this is a good move. He was obviously always going to head back to them in the summer anyway, so he may as well go now and continue his recovery while saving us some money.
