Agent admits that reported Spurs target wants a Premier League move

The agent of Tottenham target Manor Solomon has admitted that his client wants to remain in the Premier League.

Solomon, who is technically still owned by Shakhtar Donetsk, spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Fulham after FIFA ruled that foreign players in Ukraine could suspend their contracts following Russia’s invasion of the country.

Although the 23-year-old was not a regular starter for Marco Silva’s men over the course of the campaign, he showed enough for the Cottagers to allegedly want him on a permanent basis.

However, The Athletic reported last month that Fulham face competition from Spurs for the Israeli international, with the publication adding that the Lilywhites were leading the race for the player’s signature.

Solomon’s current contract at Shakhtar expires in December of this year (Transfermarkt) but the club’s CEO Sergei Palkin has threatened to sue Tottenham if they sign the winger on a free transfer, insisting it is unfair that the Ukrainian side would not get any transfer fee for the player (ESPN).

The winger’s agent, Gilad Katsav has now clarified that the attacker wants to remain in England at the start of next season.

When asked about Solomon’s future, he told Sport5: “He has a contract until December at Shakhtar. Our goal is to keep him in England because that is what he wants.

“There are many reports that are not true, there are reports that are partly true. If we have something to publish, we will publish it.”

Even if Tottenham feel that Solomon was an interesting profile, they might not want to get involved in any sort of legal battle about his contract situation.

That might perhaps persuade the North London club to look beyond the 23-year-old at other potential targets.
