Agent claims he spoke to Conte and Italian is ‘thinking of leaving’ Tottenham

Italian football agent and former footballer Massimo Brambati has claimed that he has spoken to Antonio Conte and the 52-year-old is considering leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

Conte hinted after Spurs’ loss to Burnley on Wednesday that he might not be the right man to help the North London club turn around their fortunes (Football.London).

According to The Athletic, some well-placed sources at Tottenham are convinced that Conte will not be in charge of the club next season.

The report added that while Daniel Levy is committed to making the Italian’s appointment work, one source within the dressing room feels the head coach’s erratic comments are not helping the squad.

Brambati has now said that Conte overestimated the impact he could have on the Tottenham players and how far he could push some of them.

He added that the former Inter Milan boss had encountered a ‘different’ situation at Spurs than the one he expected.

The journalist told TMW radio (as relayed by TuttoJuve): “He’s thinking of leaving. He would like to stay at home, let’s say.

“For me, he overestimated the situation, which he then found himself managing. The results didn’t help him, not only those on the pitch but also the response of the players.

“It takes time, and maybe he realised that there’s a margin beyond which he can’t go with certain players. He made a wrong assessment.

“I’ve heard from him; he’s disappointed with a situation he expected to be different.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Conte walks away, some Spurs fans will lay the blame at the feet of Levy and the Tottenham board. That would be extremely unfair as the Tottenham hierarchy have not even been given a proper chance to back Conte in the transfer market.

If the Italian overestimated the impact he could have on the Spurs players, then one cannot blame Paratici or Levy for that.  If he feels the job is beneath him and wants to get out, then I would prefer him to walk away rather than sticking around and constantly moaning to the media.
