Agent claims Mourinho has personally contacted him about 21-year-old midfielder

Rangers star, Ianis Hagi, is on Tottenham’s radar this summer, with Jose Mourinho already having personally enquired about the midfielder, according to his agent.

Hagi, an attacking midfielder who can play down the middle as well as on either flank, joined Rangers on loan from Genk in January and has been in fabulous form ever since.

The Scottish giants reportedly have the option to make the loan deal for the versatile midfielder permanent at the end of the season (Glasgow Live).

However, his performances for Steven Gerrard’s side have seemingly caught the attention of Tottenham and Manchester City, with the midfielder’s agent, Giovani Becali, revealing that both clubs had contacted him regarding Hagi.

Giovani, who is the brother of Steaua Bucharest owner Gig Becali, also claimed that a permanent move to Rangers in the summer would help the 22-year-old to continue his development.

Speaking about the young Romanian, Becali told Record Sport: “I have been asked personally by (Spurs boss) Jose Mourinho and (Manchester City director of football) Txiki Begiristain about Ianis Hagi.

“They wanted to know about him and how he was getting on. So there’s a lot of top people in European football who know all about Ianis and what he can do.

“I happen to think Ianis is on a good plan at Rangers. I think Rangers will sign him because he is a player who has that little extra piece of creativity and skill.

“He has many other qualities and is actually more graceful than his father ever was. He runs like a gazelle compared to him. I think he is improving all the time at Rangers. He will continue to get better if he signs for them I think.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We should all be taking this with a pinch of salt as drumming up interest is what agents do best, especially as we get close to the transfer window. Hagi has a lot more to prove at Rangers if the likes of Spurs and Manchester City are going to be tempted to go in for him.
