Agent confirms club received offers for reported Spurs target last month

Serie A giants AS Roma rejected offers for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Cengiz Under last month, the 22-year-old’s agent has confirmed.

The North London club have been linked with a move for Under for over a year with The Mirror reporting 14 months ago that the Lilywhites had a £30 million bid rejected by Roma for the wide man.

Spurs were also linked heavily with a move for the Turkish international last summer while their North London rivals, Arsenal were also said to be interested in his services (Turkish Football) only for Under to remain in the Italian capital.

Jose Mourinho is also reportedly a fan of the silky left-footer according to Turkish publication Gunes.

The winger has failed to kick on as expected this campaign partly due to injury problems, having made just thirteen appearances in the Serie A so far (transfermarkt).

Under’s agent, Utku Cenikli has now confirmed that the Italian giants received offers for the youngster from Premier League clubs last month.

Turkish Football quotes Cenikli as saying: “Offers have arrived from aboard [Premier League] and Italy for Cengiz. However, Roma has not accepted them.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Under looks technically excellent and seems to have the talent required to evolve into a top player, I question if he has the physicality and strength required for the Premier League. If we were interested in a player of his profile, I am not sure why we didn’t move for Jarrod Bowen last month.
