Agent confirms that Spurs have ‘serious’ interest in 20-year-old

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur hold a serious interest in his client, who is expected to depart Ruben Kazan this summer.

Kvaratskhelia’s stock has risen considerably since he moved to Ruben Kazan from Lokomotiv Moscow two years ago.

The 20-year-old had a particularly impressive season last time out, finishing the Russian Premier League campaign with four goals and eight assists.

Reports emerged from Italy last month that the winger’s performances have attracted the attention of both Spurs and AC Milan, with Kazan alleged to value the youngster at around €18m (£15.5m).

The winger’s agent has now confirmed there is a very high chance of the Georgian international leaving Kazan before the transfer window shuts.

He admitted that apart from Tottenham, Juventus are also eyeing a move for Kvaratskhelia.

When asked about the winger’s future, he told Georgian media (via Football Italia): “I have to meet with the President of Rubin after August 12, and with an 85-90 per cent probability, Kvaratskhelia will change team and play in a very high-level club in Europe.

“I can confirm there is serious interest from Tottenham. I can’t say anything new about Leeds, but there is also Juventus.”

Tottenham have already strengthened their wide areas this summer with the addition of Bryan Gil from Sevilla, with Erik Lamela going to the La Liga club as a part of the deal.

One has to always take public statements from agents with a pinch of salt as it is often aimed at attracting attention to their clients.

So, this might just be a case of Kvaratskhelia’s agent talking up his client to potentially get the player a better contract at Kazan or to force interested clubs to act quickly.
