Agent denies reports that Spurs and Chelsea are interested in his client

Amidst reports linking Zenit St Petersburg’s Robert Renan with a move to Tottenham, the defender’s agent has denied that his client is attracting interest from England.

Robert Renan only left Brazilian football to move to Europe in January but has made a fantastic start to life in Russia, having established himself as a key part of Zenit’s backline.

The 19-year-old’s impressive displays have not gone unnoticed back in his home country, with the youngster earning a call-up to the senior Brazil squad back in March.

90 min reported earlier this week that Renan’s performances over recent months had also caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, with Spurs named as one of his ‘admirers’.

The publication added that the Lilywhites could face competition from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United, who were all said to be tracking the centre-back.

However, Renan’s agent, Luis Fernando Garcia, has now dismissed suggestions that the teenager could soon be on his way to England.

When asked about the speculation over his client’s future, he simply told RIA Novosti: “Interest in Robert Renan from English clubs is not true.”

It would take more than a handful of decent performances in the Russian top flight to convince top Premier League clubs to take a punt on Renan.

Perhaps Spurs and the aforementioned clubs will continue watching the 19-year-old next season before making a decision on whether to pursue him in January 2024.
