Agent explains Spurs target will stay at club unless ‘out of the ordinary’ deal emerges

Stefan Backs has claimed Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel will remain at Monaco next season unless an ‘out of the ordinary’ move emerges amidst reported interest from Tottenham.

Nubel joined the Ligue 1 outfit on a two-season loan last summer having struggled to gain opportunities ahead of Manuel Neuer in his first and currently only season at Bayern.

The 25-year-old has since made the No 1 spot at Monaco his own which will likely have impressed the German side, who have a clause to recall him at the end of term (Bayern Munich).

His displays have also captured the attention of Tottenham with Kicker reporting the North London side have recently been expressing an interest, which comes alongside the growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Pierluigi Gollini (Citta Celeste).

However, Nubel’s agent Backs has currently dispelled any rumours of his client moving to another club in the summer, stating he will remain at Monaco to at least see out his loan, barring a drastic change of events.

He told Sky Germany: “If nothing out of the ordinary happens, Alexander will play at AS Monaco in the coming season.

“There are no plans to return to Munich early. Alex plays regularly in Monaco and can develop there.”

Nubel has turned out on 37 occasions for Monaco this season and played every single minute of league action, keeping 11 clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Nubel has done well for Monaco this season and has received infinitely more playing time than he would have got at Bayern.

However, his agent seems pretty adamant that he will stay in France unless a big and surprising offer gets thrown on the table in front of them.

With Gollini’s future looking uncertain, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Spurs look to pursue such a move this summer, regardless of what the current intentions are.
