Donny van de Beek’s agent has revealed that the coronavirus shut down and it’s financial repercussions haven’t stopped clubs from expressing their interest in the Dutch midfielder.
Van de Beek’s performances for Ajax over the past couple of seasons have thrust him into the limelight, with reports indicating that several clubs are interested in his signature.
The midfielder was said to be one of the players on Tottenham’s radar in January as they looked to bring in a replacement for Christian Eriksen (Football.London) but the 22-year-old ended up staying put in Amsterdam.
Real Madrid and Manchester United have also been linked with potential moves for the Ajax star (Goal.com).
The midfielder admitted last month that he is yet to make a decision on his future (Helden magazine via the Sun) and his agent, Guido Albers, has now confirmed that there is plenty of interest in Van de Beek’s services this summer.
“It also creates opportunities at clubs that perhaps thought they had no chance anymore and are now knocking on the door. I’m not worried about Donny.
“The interest has been, and that is also known, for a long time and from several clubs.
“We will see what will come out of that in the coming weeks. I dare not say anything about it at the moment.
“I can’t say anything about it because a number of things are just confidential. The situation will have changed per club and we have to look closely at that.”

Van de Beek, in many ways, would be the perfect replacement for Christian Eriksen. His attacking output in terms of goals and assists is similar to the Dane’s while he also possesses the physical and tactical attributes that Jose Mourinho likes. However, he will probably prove too expensive for us.
