Agent of rumoured Spurs target admits player ‘wishes to leave’ in January

Anthony Martial’s agent has revealed the forward wants to leave Manchester United in January, amidst reports linking the attacker with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester Evening News reported in the summer transfer window that Tottenham had been longtime admirers of Martial and were looking to finally complete a deal for the French international.

The forward ended up staying at Old Trafford over the summer but he found game time hard to come by under Solskjaer this season.

Ekrem Konnur has claimed that Spurs and Arsenal were both readying offers for the 26-year-old in January.

The Daily Mail reported two weeks ago that Martial may have had a change of heart about leaving United following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

It was suggested that the Norwegian coach’s departure had given the likes of Martial and United’s other fringe players ‘fresh hope’ and they were open to delaying decisions on their futures.

However, Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley has now made it clear that the former Monaco man wants out of Old Trafford next month.

Lamboley said (via The Telegraph’s James Ducker): “Anthony wishes to leave the club in January.

“He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”

Martial would be an excellent addition to the squad as he would be able to cover for all three positions in Conte’s front three.

While the Frenchman’s talent is not in doubt, it is his attitude issues that might potentially make him a bad fit for Conte, who demands 100 per cent from all of his players regularly.
