Agent of rumoured Spurs target thinks he could be sold for around £10.5m

The agent of rumoured Tottenham target Carlos Alcaraz has admitted that the midfielder is wanted by several European clubs.

Alcaraz’s reputation in Argentinean football has grown steadily since he broke into Racing Club’s first team back in 2020. Marca reported in May that Tottenham were following the 19-year-old closely, having sent scouts to watch him play.

The report added that the North London club had asked ‘in depth’ about the midfielder and were one of several clubs who were ready to ‘make the jump’ to snap up the teenager.

It was alleged that Racing Club valued Alcaraz at $20m (£16.4m) and that the likes of Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Juventus, Inter and AC Milan, Arsenal, Wolves and PSV Eindhoven also had their eye on the player.

The central midfielder’s agent, Sebastian Lopez, has now admitted that his client received several offers during the summer transfer window, and suggested that a bid of around €12m (£10.5m) is likely to be accepted by Racing Club in January.

When asked about whether Alcaraz could make a switch to Europe, Lopez told FC Inter News: “Absolutely, he is a footballer with a guaranteed future: he’s liked in the Bundesliga and Premier League. But also in Portugal and Italy.

“Several offers came in the last market, but none of them were accepted. The valuation is €15m, which perhaps could be discounted to €12m. Or a little less, but with the percentage on future resale.”

This very much sounds like the player’s entourage feeding the speculation to the press in order to put his client’s name out there and generate more interest. There is nothing concrete to suggest that Spurs are seriously considering a move for Alcaraz.
