Agent of Spurs defender claims there is a ‘huge market’ for his client this summer

Japhet Tanganga’s agent, Roberto De Fanti, has claimed that his client is attracting plenty of interest from around Europe this summer but admitted that the defender would prefer to remain in the Premier League.

There was plenty of excitement surrounding Tanganga when he first broke into Tottenham’s senior side over three years ago but the defender’s development has completely stagnated due to a combination of injuries and a lack of game time.

The Times reported on Tuesday that one of the first things on Ange Postecoglou’s agenda at Spurs is a mass clear-out, given that the club have an extremely bloated squad.

The publication named Tanganga as one of a whole host of players who could be on their way out of Hotspur Way this summer.

De Fanti has now said that there will be no shortage of suitors for the Spurs academy graduate from England and Serie A should the Lilywhites put him in the shop window.

Tanganga’s agent says there will be lots of interest

Tanganga’s agent told TuttoMercatoWeb about the defender’s future: “It has a huge market in the Premier League and abroad. He knows how to play 3, 4, 5 (at the back). He is a modern defender, fast, aggressive, with a strong head.

“Everyone is aware of the negotiations between Milan and Tottenham last summer for him.

“Now the market value of him will probably be different from last season making him more attractive in the market.

“Japhet is also a smart boy. The ideal would be to stay in the Premier League but we will also pay attention to interest from abroad. And from Serie A.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Tanganga has all the raw materials needed to be a top defender and that he needs a run of consecutive starts under his belt to prove himself.

The 24-year-old’s recovery pace, his ability on the ball and his one vs one defending could make him an ideal fit for Postecogou’s system.

There is no reason why the centre-back cannot impress the Australian during pre-season.
