Agent of Spurs-linked star claims player is ready ‘to take the next step in his career’

Mert Muldur’s agent has admitted that his client is ready to leave Sassuolo this summer, amidst reports linking him with a move to Tottenham.

Tottenham look in need of reinforcements at right-back, with neither Matt Doherty nor Serge Aurier inspiring a lot of confidence last season.

Aurier is expected to leave Spurs and it has been rumoured that the North London club are eyeing the likes of Norwich City’s Max Aarons and Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey as potential replacements.

Muldur was another name who was previously rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, with Spox reporting last month that the Lilywhites had expressed an interest in the 23-year-old.

The Turkish international has impressed since he arrived in Italian football from Rapid Wein back in the summer of 2019 and has also demonstrated that he can do a competent job at centre-back when he has been deployed in the position.

Muldur’s agent, Max Hagmayr has now admitted that his client is ready to take a step up in his career when asked about the speculation linking the player with Napoli.

When asked about a potential move to Naples this summer, Hagmayr told CalcioNapoli24: “In the past, I talked about him with Napoli because Mert is a very promising full-back, still young and who played well against Switzerland as a left-back.

“We will see what happens in the summer. Muldur would like to take the next step in his career.

“It’s hard to say now but I can say that all players would be happy to play for Napoli. Right now, he has a contract with Sassuolo until 2024 (but) Mert feels ready for the next step. We should talk about it with Sassuolo.”
