Agent reveals Spurs and Liverpool were interested in signing Juventus new boy

The agent of Kaio Jorge has revealed that Tottenham were one of the clubs that tried to sign the player before he completed a move to Juventus.

Jorge broke into Santos’ first team in 2018 and has gone from strength to strength over the last few years.

The centre-forward has also excelled for Brazil’s Under-17s, finding the back of the net on six occasions in ten appearances

The teenager’s impressive displays unsurprisingly attracted interest from European clubs and it was Juventus who won the race for the youngster, snapping him up for just €3m (£2.5m).

Jorge’s agent, Andrea Bagnoli, has now revealed that Juve beat out competition from several European clubs, including Spurs, to get their hands on the Brazilian, stating that the Old Lady were more decisive than others during the negotiations.

He told Calciomercato: “I know that he was followed with interest by Atlético Madrid, Liverpool and Tottenham, but all the top clubs were informed.

“I really think so [€3m fee is a bargain], because Juve jumped at the opportunity by taking advantage of the situation of his contract which would expire in a few months.

“He was followed by several European clubs, but in the end the most decisive club always wins.”

Bagnoli also compared his client with the likes of Firmino and Neymar, backing the 19-year-old to develop into a superstar.

He added: “A little Lautaro, a little Firmino; he is a player with their characteristics, but by finding him the right position and giving him the experience he can also turn into a Neymar. The work he will do with Allegri will certainly be fundamental.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Juventus snapped him up likely means that Fabio Paratici would have been aware of Jorge’s profile. Perhaps, it was the Italian who tried to hijack the deal and bring the 19-year-old to Spurs but was ultimately unable to do so.
